DESCRIPTION:
Imagine spending four weeks of your summer in Thailand, learning about this historic culture through classes on handicraft, Thai boxing, and Thai cooking. Student will live with a Thai host family and receive individual lessons at a local school. This will give you the opportunity to practice your Thai, make new friends, and become involved in community life. Integration into the family is the ultimate goal of the homestay experience.

ACCOMODATION:
The student will be hosted on a full board host family and attend a government or private school, depending on the program chosen. Host families come from many social and economical backgrounds of life and may live in various locations. |

ACTIVITIES:
The students are expected to take part in the daily activities of their host families. However host families are not required to organize activities, visits or excursion.

Thailand, the colorful kingdom well known for exquisite cuisine, fine silks, and golden Buddha, is most famous for its vibrant people and radiant smiles. Here is a unique opportunity to feel the true warmth of those smiles and to share your own experience with eager Thai counterparts.

Adventure and Experience: We'll visit ancient temples and modern cities, study Buddhism with revered monks, rice farming with traditional growers, and social issues with dedicated activists as we examine some of the challenges facing this culture in transition.
Cultural Exchange: Most memorably, we will become valued members of a Thai village community as we bring English to life in rustic, rural classrooms, form friendships with Thai students, and learn to see the world through each other's eyes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- This program is open to worldwide participants in grades 9-12. - Some English proficiency is required, but not perfect fluency as we teach only beginning level English in the Thai village schools. |
